Hanoi celebrates its ancient arts and culture, including water puppets. Buddhist, Taoist, and Confucian temples are in active use throughout the city. Reverence for Uncle Ho permeates the city. Farther south in Hue, the emperors’ temples stand in remembrance of times past. The lanterns in the UNESCO city of Hoi An illuminate the night. Throughout the country, the Vietnamese take care to honor their ancestors with service of food and money.
