Nomads - The San

Genetically the oldest people on earth, the nomadic San live much the same as they have for millennia. I spent a week with a group of San in the forests of northwest Botswana near Xai Xai, hunting porcupine, gathering tubers and honey, harvesting grass to build huts, listening to nighttime stories, and watching their trance dances. Many younger San are abandoning this ancient way of life and venturing to Gabarone for jobs, leaving behind children to be raised by grandparents.
