In Siem Reap, dancing Asparas still perform the exquisitely slow and precise moves of ancient dancers that are carved into the walls of temples and palaces from long ago. Khmer people live aboard boats in a floating village. Stone monkeys stand guard at the ruins of a women’s temple. High school students sing “Five Hundred Smiles.”
